Resizing WEBP images

WEBP images are commonly used for web images where smaller file sizes are important, supported in all modern browsers. Resizing reduces or increases the pixel dimensions while keeping the image content intact. The output is saved as a lossless PNG.

Does resizing affect quality?

Scaling down reduces the number of pixels, which is expected — the output image is smaller. No additional compression artefacts are added. Scaling up interpolates new pixels from existing ones, which can produce softness at large magnifications, but the canvas uses high-quality smoothing to minimise this.

Aspect ratio lock

Enable the lock icon to keep the original proportions when you change one dimension. This prevents distortion — the image will not stretch or squish. Disable it only when you need non-proportional dimensions, such as a fixed banner size.
