Why correct dimensions matter on Twitter / X

Twitter crops images in the timeline to a fixed preview ratio. Resizing to the recommended dimensions ensures your image displays without unexpected cropping in the feed.

Twitter / X image dimensions reference

In-Feed Post: 1200 × 675 px — Header Photo: 1500 × 500 px — Profile Photo: 400 × 400 px. These are the current recommended sizes. Platform requirements occasionally change, so check the official Twitter / X help centre if you notice unexpected cropping after uploading.

Aspect ratio lock

When the lock icon is enabled, changing the width automatically updates the height proportionally (and vice versa). For platform presets the lock is disabled automatically since the preset dimensions have their own fixed ratio. Re-enable the lock if you need to scale uniformly from your own starting size.

Output format

The download is saved as a PNG, which is lossless and accepted everywhere. If you need a smaller JPEG for faster upload, use the Convert PNG to JPEG tool after resizing.
